18mm Birch Plywood is a high-quality, multi-layered panel known for its strength, stability, and clean appearance. Manufactured using multiple thin birch veneers bonded together under pressure, it delivers excellent load-bearing performance and consistent quality.

Its dense core and pale timber faces make it a popular choice for interior joinery, furniture manufacture, and general woodworking.

Grades & What to Expect

Birch plywood is graded by the appearance of its faces. Below is a guide to the most common grades and their typical characteristics:

BB/BB Grade (Most commonly stocked and easiest to source)

  • Both faces are sound and solid
  • Visible patches, plugs, and natural grain variation
  • Clean and durable, but not decorative-grade
  • Ideal where both faces may be visible but a natural, industrial look is acceptable

B/BB Grade (Currently more difficult to source, subject to availability and lead times)

  • One higher-quality B-grade face with fewer patches and a cleaner appearance
  • Reverse face is BB grade
  • Preferred where one visible face requires a more refined finish
