Chestnut Paling Fencing
Chestnut Paling (or Cleft Chestnut) fencing is a traditional rural fencing solution made from naturally durable sweet chestnut hardwood. Individual chestnut pales are split by hand and joined together with galvanised wire to form flexible rolls of fencing.
Thanks to the timber’s naturally high tannin content, chestnut fencing offers excellent resistance to decay without chemical treatment and can last 15 years or more.
Its natural appearance allows it to blend seamlessly into rural landscapes while providing an economical option for enclosing large areas.
Best suited for:
- Woodland
- Country parks
- Nature reserves
- Temporary or permanent rural boundaries
- Garden screening
