2. Add product at the rate of 400 ml to 100 litres water of clean, cold water (0.4%).

It is an offence to allow chemical agents to get into milk therefore after each treatment of the equipment with the product and before the equipment is used again it must be thoroughly rinsed with clean water.

FOR PATH / SURFACE CLEANING USAGE

Step 1: Remove Weeds and Loose Debris
Weeds and moss commonly take root between patio slabs. Begin by pulling out any larger weeds by hand, ensuring you remove as much of the root as possible. Use a stiff brush to sweep away smaller weeds, soil, leaves, and loose dirt. This preps the surface for deeper cleaning.

Step 2: Pre-Clean With Soapy Water
Before introducing any chemicals, give your patio a general wash. Mix warm water with a few drops of washing-up liquid and pour it over the patio surface. Scrub with a hard-bristle brush to lift the surface grime and algae. This step helps your sodium hypochlorite solution work more effectively later on.

Step 3: Apply the Sodium Hypochlorite Solution
Dilute the sodium hypochlorite at a 1:3 ratio (1 part hypochlorite to 3 parts water), unless otherwise directed by the label. Apply the solution evenly across the patio using a watering can or garden sprayer, avoiding nearby plants or lawn areas.

Let the solution sit for around 30 to 45 minutes, allowing it to break down algae, lichen, and staining. Keep pets and children away during this stage.

Top Tip:
Avoid applying hypochlorite in strong sunlight, as it can evaporate too quickly. Choose a dry but overcast day for best results.

Step 4: Scrub the Surface
After soaking, scrub the patio thoroughly using your hard-bristle brush. Focus on stained or moss-covered areas. The scrubbing action helps dislodge deep-seated dirt and encourages better absorption of the cleaning solution into porous surfaces.

Step 5: Pressure Wash for a Flawless Finish
Once scrubbed, rinse the patio clean. A pressure washer will produce the best results but should be used with caution:

  • Start on a low-pressure setting
  • Use a fan nozzle at a 30–45° angle
  • Avoid spraying directly into joints or from a close distance

If you don’t have access to a pressure washer, a garden hose with a high-pressure nozzle can still be effective.
