What has caused the fence post failures that have been reported?

From independent investigations that have been made the failures are due to a combination of reasons.

Firstly, the preservative products used to treat the failed posts may have been used at an inappropriate solution strength. Also the failed posts had a higher than ideal moisture content when preservative treated which makes the penetration of the preservative into the timber so much more difficult. We know that Tanalith E is the best preservative to do the job of protecting  fence posts and fencing timbers and we ensure that both the pre-treatment moisture content and the preservative solution strength are at the correct levels.

Also with the redwood timbers for the Good Wood fence posts. These species can be easier to pressure pre-treat than whitewood timbers.
